A Classical Music Jam Session will be held in Martin Hall at Holy Innocents’ Episcopal Church in Beach Haven on Saturday, Feb. 8, from 1 to 3 p.m. Ellen Dondero, event coordinator and the church’s minister of music, said the jam session is an opportunity for musicians to share their music.
“What is performed is determined by who attends and what they can – and want to – perform,” said Dondero. “Attendees should bring instruments and, hopefully, music that they would like to perform with others. Listeners are also welcome.”
She said the first such event was held in February 2017.
“We’ve had string quartets, pianists and guitarists,” said Dondero. “It’s very informal. Near the end of the program, we all might play a particular familiar piece. It’s really all about having fun playing together.”
Light refreshments will be served, and the church welcomes any food contributions from attendees. Donations are encouraged and appreciated.
The event is the first in a series of monthly musical events to be held at the church. All remaining concerts begin at 4 p.m.
The schedule is March 14, the Nocturnes Big Band; April 18, violinist Claudia Pellegrini; May 9, Jimmy Merchant Jazz Trio with vocalist; and June 6, Capital Singers of Trenton.
