‘Military Appreciation Site’: Businesses Can Offer Discounts

County Invites Businesses to Sign Up Now

Toms River — Ocean County’s tourism department is inviting business owners to consider giving discounts to military personnel as a thank-you – one that could lead to returns when the families vacation here. A database of discount offers will be sent to military bases within four hours from our shore, under a program being developed by the county.

“This is a carefully designed initiative that showcases Ocean County as the Jersey Shore Military Friendly Destination, to encourage more military to choose our county for their vacation or day trip getaways,” introduced Dana Lancellotti, division director of Ocean County Business Development & Tourism.

In a recent letter to business and service owners, Lancelloti directed them to the website OceanCountyTourism.com, where they can click on the “military-friendly” logo to visit the pages where they can load their discount postings.

Click on the blue button, link to the registration form and submit the offers. The businesses are in control of the start and stop dates.

The project will soon become a website called the “Ocean County Tourism Military Appreciation” site.

“Once we have a robust list of discount offers on there, we will make the site live,” Lancelloti explained. “And then we will aggressively promote the site with ads that are directly targeting military communities in Delaware, Pennsylvania, New York and throughout New Jersey.”

There is no charge for businesses to participate.

“After working with the military community for 11 years, I can tell you that they love to travel when they are stationed in a region,” Lancellotti said. “They need to explore and to become familiar with the part of the world where they are based at the moment.

“The families, the spouses … they are all very anxious to do business with those who appreciate their service and sacrifice. Ocean County Tourism is looking to become a prominent location in their minds. We are their ‘Jersey Shore Military-Friendly Destination’!”

The website is a chance for businesses to promote themselves “to those who serve and sacrifice for us every day,” note its organizers. “They have given their lives to our country, let’s take the time to serve them some fun.”
