Barnegat Light — For people wanting a panoramic view of Long Beach Island, there’s no better place than the top of Barnegat Lighthouse. And on Saturday, June 15, the Friends of Barnegat Lighthouse organization holds a night climb from 7 to 9 o’clock. The event is free, but donations to the organization are appreciated.
The friends suggest participants arrive early, since a limited number of people can go up at the same time. The night climb ends promptly at 9. The lighthouse is 172 feet high and contains 217 steps.
“The sunsets are magnificent,” said friends past president Charlotte Banks. “People will see the Island in a whole new way.”
The rest of the night climb schedule are all Saturdays at the same time – June 22, July 13, Aug. 17, Sept. 14, Oct. 12 and Oct. 26.
