LBIF Holiday Market Festival a Bright Spot on Small Business Saturday and Beyond

Loveladies — A unique one-stop holiday shopping extravaganza with local books, crafts, sculpture, clothing and handmade artwork is taking place at the Holiday Market Festival at the LBI Foundation of the Arts and Sciences through Sunday, Dec. 15.

And on Small Business Saturday, Nov. 30, the market festival will be buzzing with entertainment and activity. Seven food and beverage trucks, beer included among the refreshments, will line the LBIF grounds, which will offer live music and fire pits. S’mores will make more warm memories.

Celebrated Harvey Cedars author Margaret Thomas “Pooch” Buchholz will be inside on the stage from 10 a.m. to noon, signing her many LBI and shore books, including her latest, Long Beach Island Chronicles, and the expanded second edition of Great Storms of the Jersey Shore.

“This Market is brimming with beautiful and affordable handmade, one-of- a-kind items,” said LBIF Executive Director Daniella Kerner, “perfect for gift giving.”

The items include “a fantastic array of handmade clothing, jewelry, accessories, handbags, ceramics, glass, natural fragrances and skin care products, greeting cards, decor, paintings, artwork for your home, holiday potpourri and more.”

Benefiting both the Foundation and local artisans, the Market Festival takes over the entire main gallery at the LBIF. The stage itself becomes a local bookstore with all of local publisher Down The Shore’s titles available. The selection is curated to emphasize LBI region books and authors. The pop-up bookstore is in association with Wildflowers Too in Barnegat Light, which is offering art-to-wear clothing and accessories including hats and hand-woven scarves, graphic sculptures and interactive art boxes.

This venue gives people an opportunity to support locals, as well as the community programs of the LBIF.
