Are you retired, but still have a lot to give? Find the right volunteer opportunity for you at the Martin Luther King Jr. Day of Service on Monday, Jan. 15, at 3 p.m. at the Long Beach Island branch of the Ocean County Library in Surf City.
The Friends of the Island Library are inviting nonprofit groups and retired community members to this volunteer fair. Several groups will make short presentations about the work they do and the kind of help they need. Interested persons are asked to register so that enough materials are available for those attending.
“This is the first time we’ve done this,” said Friends President Judy Bouton. “I think there are a lot of people on the Island that would be interested if they were made aware of these volunteer opportunities. I feel they would have much to offer.”
Interested persons can register online at theoceancountylibrary.org, or by calling the LBI branch at 609-494-2480.
