Congressman Kim to Hold Veterans Day Town Hall at Ocean County College

Toms River — Congressman Andy Kim, who represents New Jersey’s 3rd Congressional District, which includes half of Stafford Township and all of Barnegat Township, will be holding a town hall event at 5 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 11, in the lecture hall of the Gateway Building on the Ocean County College campus in Toms River.

Nov. 11 is Veterans Day, so it makes perfect sense Kim’s town hall will center around veterans. It will feature vets from across his district, who will share their stories and discuss issues important to the district’s large veteran community.

“Our town halls are my chance to hear from you on what’s important, and as we approach Veterans Day, hearing from veterans in Ocean and Burlington counties is one of the most important things we can do,” said Kim, who is a member of the House Armed Services Committee, where he has led efforts to strengthen resiliency programs at Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst, strengthen economic opportunities for military spouses, and require the Department of Defense to end the use of harmful PFAS chemicals. “Our congressional district has more veterans than any other in New Jersey, and their issues impact us all.”

Before being elected to Congress, Kim served as an adviser to Gens. David Petraeus and John Allen in Afghanistan and went on to be a national security adviser for the White House under President Barack Obama, serving as a National Security Council official.

“I want to thank Ocean County College for hosting this event and our local veterans who will share their stories,” said Kim of what will be his 14th town hall meeting since being sworn into Congress last January. “This day is about them, and I look forward to having a chance for our community to honor their service.”

Admission to the event is free.
