The Friends of the Barnegat Lighthouse hold a night climb on Saturday, July 28. Group volunteers will staff the lighthouse from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Barnegat Lighthouse State Park. Admission is free.
In addition, the Basement Musicians will be playing in the nearby gazebo. This group of Central and South Jersey musicians performs classic rock, country and folk music.
“Our night climbs have become very popular, as visitors get a spectacular view, so plan on arriving early,” said Kelly Steppacher, corresponding secretary of the friends. “The event ends promptly at 9.”
The lighthouse is 172 feet high and contains 217 steps.
The next summer night climb will be Saturday, Aug. 25, at 7 p.m. For more information, call the park office at 609-494-2016 or visit friendsofbarnegatlighthouse.org.
