Barnegat Light Taxpayers: Meet and Learn on Sept. 15

Speakers on Town, Sea and Trees

The last general meeting of the Barnegat Light Taxpayers’ Association for 2018 will be held on Sept. 15 at the first aid squad building on West 10th Street, starting at 9:30 a.m. At this meeting the membership will elect new officers and review the changes to the association’s constitution and by-laws, said association President John Tennyson.

Also, a series of speakers will each summarize interesting and timely topics. The following four speakers are scheduled:

Karter Larson, treasurer, Viking Village Commercial Seafood Producers Inc., will inform on “Our vital commercial seaport and its importance for our town.”

Arborist Steve Kennedy will talk about “The Pine Beetle infestation on Long Beach Island,” a topic that residents have been asking about.

James Gutowski, scallop boat owner and fleet administrative manager of Viking Village Inc., will deliver information on “Wind Farms off our coast – what it might mean to our commercial seafood industry.”

Barnegat Light Mayor Kirk Larson will update taxpayers on several news happenings around town and take questions from the audience. —M.S.
