Artists Wanted: The Long Beach Island Foundation of the Arts and Sciences in Loveladies invites artists to submit their artwork for consideration for an exhibition titled “Weather” that opens Jan. 24 and will run through the end of March. This themed exhibition will feature artwork in a variety of mediums: photography, painting, drawing, fiber arts and mixed media, all depicting weather and the environmental impact it has on New Jersey and the coast: climate change, storms, seasonal changes, heat, wind, etc. Artists may submit jpeg images via email to by Dec. 16.

Jingle All the Way: The LBIF continues its Holiday Market with arts and crafts on display for sale through Dec. 15.

LBIF winter hours are: 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday, Tuesday, Saturday and Sunday and 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday.

Painter Linda Ramsay opens her winter studio at the Foundation, overlooking wetlands, to artists on the second and fourth Tuesdays of every month from 10:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Ramsay offers suggestions and encouragement during these sessions in your medium of choice. Bring art supplies; LBIF offers free easels and tables. The fee is $25, payable to LBIF on the day. No registration is necessary.

Two Saturday drop-in ceramics programs are offered at the LBIF. “Fire Me Up” is a drop-in-anytime event between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. to paint bisqueware, cups, dishes, etc. for a $15 fee (members free) plus the cost of the ceramics. The ceramics will be fired and can be picked up at a later date. Or if you want to create your own greenware, pay $35 plus the cost of clay, and an instructor will lead you through hand-building or on the wheel for up to three hours. Children ages 6 and older are welcome with a family caregiver.

Deck the Walls: Pine Shores Art Association’s “Deck the Walls” holiday art show is at the Manahawkin gallery, 94 Stafford Ave., through Dec. 26. The public can view the works on Wednesdays from 10 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. and Sundays from 1 to 3 p.m.

Classes in December include “Painting Poinsettias” with Nancy Edwards, “Snow Scenes in Watercolor” with Bob Heyer, and “Creating Holiday Cards and Gifts” with Jill De Felice and Charleen Leslie. Register at

PSAA offers the following at its gallery: Ongoing portrait sessions are open to all artists for a nominal ($5) model fee on Sunday, 1 to 3 p.m., and Monday, 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday is life drawing (undraped model) from 7 to 9 p.m. ($10 model fee required). Wednesday from 10 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. is a “do your own thing” session; artists meet and create their own work. Afterward is “Artists Helping Artists” from 2:30 to 4:30 p.m.; drop in with your supplies for assistance.

Save the Date: Plein Air in Pine Air will be at the Bass River State Forest’s Lake Absegami day use area on Dec. 17 from 9:30 12:30 p.m. Bass River State Forest is located at 762 Stage Rd. in Tuckerton. Keep in mind that this is an eco-minded Plein Air group; anything you bring in must be brought back with you. No disposing of solvents or paint water on the premises. Our Towns: Beach Haven Borough Hall presents “Winter Celebrations,” paintings by Pine Shores Art Association artists plus historic photos. The show is open to visitors during borough hall hours, Monday to Friday, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., and continues through Jan. 7. Association artists also have new works adorning the walls of the Tuckerton municipal building.

In the Libraries: Photographer Robert Coon is exhibiting in the Island branch of the Ocean County library in Surf City for the month of December.

At the Lacey branch, artist Jill De Felice presents her series of paintings “A Legacy of Loss: Endangered Species Act.”

The Art Chat group, which hosts meetings at the Tuckerton Library, 380 Bay Ave., hosts a special holiday get-together on Dec. 19 with refreshments. Artists are invited to come and show their work for a friendly critique.

Model Sessions: Life Drawing at the Historic Old Baptist Church in Stafford Township is every first and third Sunday from 10 a.m. to noon. Model fee is $10.
